Limits of Lexical Semantic Relatedness with Ontology-based Conceptual Vectors
نویسندگان
چکیده
Conceptual vectors can be used to represent thematic aspects of text segments, which allow for the computation of semantic relatedness. We study the behavior of conceptual vectors based on an ontology by comparing the results to the Miller-Charles benchmark. We discuss the limits to such an approach due to explicit mapping, as well as the viability of the Miller-Charles dataset as a benchmark for assessing lexical semantic relatedness.

An Executive Approach Based On the Production of Fuzzy Ontology Using the Semantic Web Rule Language Method (SWRL)
Today, the need to deal with ambiguous information in semantic web languages is increasing. Ontology is an important part of the W3C standards for the semantic web, used to define a conceptual standard vocabulary for the exchange of data between systems, the provision of reusable databases, and the facilitation of collaboration across multiple systems. However, classical ontology is not enough ...
متن کاملA method for ontology-based semantic relatedness measurement
There are many methods having different approaches for assessing similarity and relatedness and they are used in many application areas, including web service discovery, invocation and composition, word sense disambiguation, information retrieval, ontology alignment and merging, document clustering, and short answer grading. These methods can be categorized as path-based, information content-ba...
متن کاملData Mining with Semantic Features Represented as Vectors of Semantic Clusters
Data mining with taxonomies merged with categorical data has been studied in the past but often limited to small taxonomies. Taxonomies are used to aggregate categorical data such that patterns induced from the data can be expressed at higher levels of conceptual generality. Semantic similarity and relatedness measures can be used to aggregate categorical values for cluster based data mining al...
متن کاملUsing a Search Engine-Based Mutually Reinforcing Approach to Assess the Semantic Relatedness of Biomedical Terms
BACKGROUND Determining the semantic relatedness of two biomedical terms is an important task for many text-mining applications in the biomedical field. Previous studies, such as those using ontology-based and corpus-based approaches, measured semantic relatedness by using information from the structure of biomedical literature, but these methods are limited by the small size of training resourc...
متن کاملPresentation of an efficient automatic short answer grading model based on combination of pseudo relevance feedback and semantic relatedness measures
Automatic short answer grading (ASAG) is the automated process of assessing answers based on natural language using computation methods and machine learning algorithms. Development of large-scale smart education systems on one hand and the importance of assessment as a key factor in the learning process and its confronted challenges, on the other hand, have significantly increased the need for ...
